Answers:

Answer 1

When will the conference take place and where?

The 21st ESC will take place from 13th - 17th October 2010 at the

Campus Virchow-Klinikum of the Charité - Universitätmedizin Berlin,

Berlin, Germany.

Answer 2

What are the main topics?

Please distinguish between sessions and conference topics.

The sessions (scientific contest) cover all medical fields. This means you

can send in your abstract coming from all fields of medical research.

The conference topics include key-note lectures, workshops, panel

discussions etc. Please, check our preliminary program for further details.

Answer 3

What does "active and passive participants" mean?

·          Active Participation

Your main task at the 21st ESC is the presentation of your scientific work

either oral or with a poster in front of the audience. By presenting your scientific

work in sessions with other active participants, you can qualify yourself

as the winner of your session. Out of all the session winners, a scientific jury

will choose the best ones who will be awarded during our Closing Ceremony

at the end of the conference. Furthermore you can of course participate in any

other session or workshop and in any special or social event. Any active applicant

who is not selected by our scientific jury is very welcome to participate passively.

·          Passive Participation

Passive participants will have the opportunity to meet professors and to take part in our

programme (for example in workshops, in social programme etc.), but will not be allowed

to hold a presentation during the sessions. Moreover, they can visit any session, workshop or

lecture they want to. As an active participant you take part in the scientific contest by presenting

a poster or doing an oral presentation. As a passive you are allowed to attend all sessions,

workshops and lectures. However, you are not able to take part in the scientific contest or

 to win a prize.

For more detail, please take a look at our definitions.

Answer 4

How can I apply for participation?

The call for abstracts has been launched. If you would like to present your

research at the ESC you have to submit your abstract by June 18th, 2010.

There is no deadline for a passive participation.

Either ways, you might want to register with us online.

Answer 6

Can I apply for more than one presentation?

No. Please submit only one abstract either for an oral or a poster

presentation. Up to the end of the deadline you may perform changes to

your abstract. The latest version of your abstract will be submitted to

the scientific jury to assess its quality.

Please paste the Title, the Body and the References of your abstract

further evaluation and to print your abstract if it was accepted. Please also indicate if

you apply for an oral or a poster presentation and the field of research your work was

done in. You may perform changes to your abstract until the deadline for abstract

submission has passed.

Answer 9

Can I hand in an abstract about a project which is not yet finished?

Yes, but you have to indicate your results to be preliminary and what you

applications. Be aware, that preliminary results have to clearly show the
